Recycling Details
The new Winter 2010 appliance rebate program requires you to remove your old appliance from your home. In doing so, you have one of two options to choose from: recycling or disposal.
Since the goal of Texas rebate programs is to save energy as well as help protect the environment, we hope that you’ll strongly consider recycling your old appliance. By doing so, you help keep scrap metal out of landfills and avoid contaminating Texas natural resources.
Recycling Process
Recycling is defined as when the old appliance is removed from the home by the retailer, contractor or resident and taken to a recycling facility where:
- The appliance is de-manufactured
- All hazardous materials are removed and handled in accordance with federal, state and local laws
- All recyclable materials (e.g. plastics, metal and glass) are sorted and reprocessed into raw materials for future use.
Recycling Partners
Many retailers, contractors and recycling facilities offer recycling services. Please check with your local retailer, contractor or recycler, or view our Recycling Partner list.
Retailers/Contractors
